Obituary
Henry P. Senyak, of Cleveland’s Tremont neighborhood. Beloved son of the late Henry E. Senyak, and the late Getrude H. Senyak (nee Pilar). Passed away on August, 9, 2023, at the age of 60, from complications of cancer.) Henry is survived by many first and second cousins, aunts, uncles, and other relations. But considered his community, friends, and neighbors to be family members too.
Henry was baptized in Christ at St. Augustine’s, was confirmed at Our Lady of Mercy. Graduated from Cleveland Central Catholic in 1981, and attended Our Lady of Mercy and St. Micheal’s grade-school’s in Cleveland. Henry wanted to learn a trade and was drawn to electrical & communications, even though took every Honor’s weighted class in Preparation for College. He started his first part-time job in 1979 at Sight & Sound Communication’s in Garfield Heights. In 1982 he became the Installation Manager for telephone key systems. In 1983 he was sent to to PBX School in Anaheim, Ca..In late 1983 Henry was hired by Digital Analog Design Corp. out of Copley then Brecksville. He started installing hybrid systems, then as a service technician. In 1987 he was promoted to operations manager until a corporate downsize effected his employment. In 1991 Henry took added classes to take and pass the Cleveland Electrical License exam. He then started his own company including working for his past employer. Several years later the Cleveland License was grandfathered into a State of Ohio License. Henry also passed the State of Ohio Fire Alarm Certificate. Between 1991 to 2006 he ran his contractor business in Cleveland, and traveled the east coast and mid-west contracting putting in structured cable installs and phone systems for Prudential Life Insurance branches.
Henry saw the need to close his business in 2007 to provide care for his aging mother, Gertrude, until her death in 2018. In 2003 Henry also began a twenty year run at being the Chairperson or Secretary of Tremont’s Lincoln Heights Block Club. He was a true community advocate for people that really did not have a voice. In the latter five years in that role he assisted in bringing in well over 200 million in new development projects in Lincoln Heights/Tremont with community benefits to assist in neighborhood beautification and to help long-time, minority, and poorer residents with home repair assistance. In 2006 Henry joined the Board of Tremont West Development Corporation, as an Ex-officio, then appointed and elected to the regular Board, he served in several officers roles, leading up to be Board President in 2012. He served as Chairperson of the Economic Development and Safety Committees for years on the Board. In 2023 TWDC honored Henry with an lifetime achievement award at their annual meeting. Henry also served in roles for Cleveland City Council ad-hoc committees, his knowledge of the City zoning code and fire code insuring local businesses were in compliance in their operations and safe for people to attend events in the City. He also volunteered to report street light outages to Cleveland Public Power over the near west side communities for five years prior to LED lights. His ultimate passion was his lifelong hobby of collecting vintage, current, and craft beer cans of any and all sizes. He started collecting when he was 10 years old and continued through his life. Henry was a proud member of the BCCA (Breweriana Collectors Club of America), and the local Lake Erie Chapter of the BCCA in Cleveland.

In lieu of flowers, Henry wanted people to donate funds to St. Augustine’s Church in Cleveland’s Tremont community to help out people in need.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place Friday, August 18, 2023, in St. Augustine Catholic Church, 2486 W 14th St, Cleveland, OH 44113, at 11:00AM. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH at 10:00am for visitation prior to service. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. Family will receive friends in Tomon & Sons Funeral Home, 4772 Pearl Rd. (N. of Brookpark Rd.), Cleveland, OH 44109, on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, from 6-8 PM, Thursday, August 17, 2023, from 1-3 & 5-7 PM.
