A special report by The Tremonster
Jim Santiago held a $10 Puerto Rican dinner fundraiser after 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 7. His daughter is going to Europe, so this entrepreneurial Tremonster rolled up his sleeves and threw a Puerto Rican cookout party for his neighbors in the W 14th Street & Bhurer Avenue area in support of the trip.
Santiago charged $10 per person for a share of two large outdoor grills worth of his “West Side Barbeque,” which attracted many customers with an irresistible aroma that filled the streets of Tremont’s lower east side after 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.
If you missed it, don’t worry — Santiago has another $10/Puerto Rican dinner fundraiser planned for after 2:00 p.m. on June 14, in his yard at 1328 Buhrer Avenue.
Right around the corner from the Christmas Story House & Museum, this $10 Puerto Rican dinner might make this Sunday a great way to visit Tremont without breaking the bank…and help a young Tremonster to see the world at the same time.
