As Cleveland’s revitalization gains momentum, wonderful things are happening. More residents live in downtown and new retail shops and world class restaurants abound. Long past are the days when Cleveland was known simply as the mistake on the lake.

One of the reasons that my husband and I love Cleveland is that every neighborhood is unique. Who can’t fall in love with the artsy vibes of Waterloo and the Detroit-shore way and the bustling night life in Ohio City? That neighborhood feel is exactly why we chose to move to the distinct pocket of Tremont known as Duck Island. We have a beautiful mix of neighbors who are committed to our “little neck of the woods.” With mainly older homes, with nice yards, Duck Island is a neighborhood where everyone looks out for each other, says hello and asks how you are doing. CMSD kicks off attendance campaign

CMSD is waging a communitywide campaign – complete with billboards, yard signs, bus placards and radio spots – aimed at raising school attendance.

The “Get to School. You Can Make It!” campaign will target an epidemic: In nearly two-thirds of District schools, more than half of the students are chronically absent – defined as missing 10 days or more per year. Continue reading

Tri-C New Adult Diploma Program Now Enrolling

A new program launching at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) will link earning a high school diploma with free job training for adults age 22 or older who left school before graduating.

Enrollment in the Adult Diploma Program at Tri-C opens Monday, July 6. The state-funded project is designed to provide the schooling and training needed for jobs within in-demand fields. Continue reading

St. Wendelin Parish to Break Ground on a New Parish Prayer Garden

St. Wendelin Parish, on Columbus Road, will break ground on a new Parish Prayer Garden. The Garden sits behind the rectory and will include beautification of the entire property.

“This project began as a plan to make the rectory and the grounds more accessible, beautiful and more available to the community and our parish,” said Fr. Robert Kropac, pastor of St. Wendelin Parish. Continue reading
