Today’s Approved Cleveland Ward Redistricting Splits Tremont in Three!

New Cleveland City Ward Redistricting Approved Today
Plan Puts Tremont in 3 Wards Beginning January, 2014

Cleveland City Council, meeting in special session called by Council President Marty Sweeney, approved an amended city ward redistricting plan, which, in effect, creates 3 wards in Tremont in place of the current two. The vote was 14 – 4 for the new plan. The plan was opposed by Councilmen Joe Cimperman, Michael Polensek, Jeff Johnson and Kevin Conwell. Councilman Brian Cummins is travelling out of the country.
According to this approved plan, this is how Tremont is affected by block club service area:
Ward 14 Tremont (served by Councilman Brian Cummins) – W. 25th Street to W. 17th Street, Wade Avenue to Valentine:

  • Scranton Castle
  • Clark-Scranton Block Club
  • Metro North Block Club
  • MetroHealth Medical Center

Ward 3 Tremont (served by Councilman Joe Cimperman) – Columbus Road to W. 3rd, University to north side of Clark Avenue:

  • Duck Island Block Club
  • North of Literary Block Club
  • Central Tremont Block Club
  • South of Jefferson Block Club
  • Auburn Block Club
  • Lincoln-Heights Block Club
  • Mentor-Castle-Clark Block Club

Ward 12 Tremont (served by Councilman Tony Brancatelli) –Clark Avenue south to the Roundabout, and W. 14th, W. 13th, W. 12th and W. 11th Streets south of Clark:

  • Holmden-Buhrer-Rowley – includes The Christmas Story House
  • Steelyard Commons
