Merrick House Early Childhood Education Program Pre-K classes were busy learning how to garden by planting fruits and vegetables in our new raised garden beds.

Merrick House partnered with Grow at Home owner Michael Bartunek, as well as Andy Krebs and Michael Theis, to create an outdoor learning classroom where our children can learn the process of planting fruits, vegetables and the daily care of a garden.

The funds to build the garden were donated by the Ohio Children’s Foundation. Over the last several months the pre-K class has been attending cooking class where they experienced new foods and herbs. We are excited for our children to harvest ingredients from their very own garden!

Later that day, we held a dedication ceremony for our new Merrick House Little Free Library.

Funding for the Merrick House Little Free Library was donated by Carol Jones of the Christ Child Society, and installation was done by Jack Ricchiuto and Jim Naccarato of the Tremont Block Club.

We invite all community members to stop by the Merrick House Little Free Library on their way to Lincoln Park to pick up a free book to read to their children!
