Every year, countless numbers of Americans wake up on January 1st and claim that one of their New Year’s resolutions will be to finally heed their doctor’s advice and take some proactive steps to improve their health. Although these resolutions are made with high hopes and great intentions, far too many of these resolutions quickly fall by the wayside in the midst of the stressful and hectic lives that many of us lead. Sadly, many Clevelanders often find ourselves heading towards the end of the year in the same states of health in which we began the year.

If this describes you perfectly, don’t despair! It’s not too late to take control of your own health and to make the changes that will allow you to live a healthy, happy, and long life. In fact, you can begin the process of transforming your health and life at the annual Scranton Road Ministries CDC Community Health Fair and Family Carnival! This year’s Health Fair will take place on September 7th from 11:00AM to 3:00PM at Luis Muñoz Marín Elementary School, which is located at the intersection of Scranton Road and Castle Avenue. In the event of rain, the entire event will take place inside the school, so don’t let a few raindrops keep you from taking part in this great event!

Our goal for this event is to empower our community to take the steps necessary to improve their own health by providing the resources necessary to improve health and wellness. We hope that you will leave this event equipped with the knowledge that you need to take positive steps on your journey to health and wellness. The majority of these services and activities are free of charge, so don’t hesitate to come and get involved! We provide all attendees with over 15 health screenings, several wellness consultations, and selected health services. Attendees will be able to receive breast cancer screenings, flu and pneumonia shots, vision and dental screenings, and much more! Additionally, our event will feature free Zumba classes and free massages.

In addition to participating in health screenings, our younger attendees will also have the opportunity to have some fun at the Health Fair! Youth of all ages will be able to play on bounce houses, win prizes from carnival games, climb a rock wall, enjoy arts and crafts, take home free health supply and school supply kits, capture a few smiles and happy memories in our photo booth, and much more!

In order to help you take a step towards healthier eating, we would love to invite you to join us for a free, healthy lunch after you have participated in health screenings. Our staff has assembled a delicious yet healthy meal for you, and we’re confident that you’ll find out that you can still enjoy tasty food at mealtimes even when you’re eating healthily!

In order to ensure that you will be able take advantage of everything that is offered at the Health Fair, we encourage you to bring your health insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid cards. The first 150 attendees will be entered into a drawing to win a free iPod and armband, so be sure to come early!
